Deloitte US shifts diversity


Deloitte US has decided that it is time to move past diversity groups focused on gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or even veteranship, Bloomberg has reported.

Over the next 18 months, the firm will phase out groups like its Women’s Initiative (WIN) and LGBT group Globe, to replace them with “inclusion councils” where all employees are welcome.

WIN’s national director told Bloomberg that it was not an abandonment of any progressive principles but rather an attempt to bring the majority of leaders – “older white men” – into the conversation to advocate for women.

Bloomberg reported that leadership at Deloitte is associating employee resource groups with Baby Boomers and Generation X, and associating total inclusion movements with millennials.
